George Joye
George Joye (* um 1495 in Renhold/Bedfordshire; † 1553 in London) unterstützte William Tyndale bei der Bibelübersetzung.
For example, he edited Martin Bucer's Psalms Commentary in 1530, published under the pseudonyms James Sawtrye and Lewes Beuchame's writings on the support of the Reformation in England; as well as a lollard (ca.1300): "The Prairie and Complaint of the Plowman unto Christe," 1531.
Over the work on the Bible translation - Joye seems to have decorated Tyndales with feathers - the break with Tyndale took place.
He died in the year of the re-Catholicization of England under Mary I, unclear whether as a martyr of the Reformation. Weblinks Edit sourcetext Standard data (person): GND: 129669172 (PICA, AKS) | LCCN: nr92010638 | VIAF: 45388352 Wikipedia People Search
