Askalaphos (Argonaut)
Askalaphos (Greek Ἀσκάλαφος) is a son of Ares and Astyoche in Greek mythology and thus a brother of Ialmenos.
Both brothers ruled together in Orchotos in Boeotia, took part in the Argonaut train and belonged to the suitors of Helena. In the Trojan War, they jointly carried out the 30-vessel contingent of Minyer from Orchomenos and Aspledon. Askalaphos, together with Idomeneus, fought against Aineias for the corpse of Alkathoos. He fell in the fight against Deiphobos, who then wanted to rob his corpse of the helmet, but was expelled from Meriones. Edit sourcetext Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
