The Daily Graphic

The Daily Graphic was a New York newspaper founded in 1873 by a Canadian firm of engravers and began publishing in March of that year until September 23, 1889. The Daily Graphic is regarded as the first illustrated newspaper of the United States and perhaps of the world, that used the photography in all its dimension, what makes it one of the first printed means to set precedents for the development of photojournalism. It was completely illustrated, which included comic strips, reproductions of paintings and illustrations of current events and outstanding characters.

It was quite similar in idea to the London newspaper The Graphic, founded in 1869. It is possible that the name was bought by the English firm and that the New York newspaper has adapted its own name. Between 1924 and 1932 he reissued under the name of The New York Graphic in which Walter Winchell became famous for a column of opinion.
