The horse market in Bietigheim is a popular inter-regional festival held in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany. It takes place directly under the railway bridge of the Enz valley and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Despite this affluence, this event has retained the charm of a local festival.
The horse market in Bietigheim starts on the Friday before the first Monday in September and ends on the following Tuesday. In addition to the traditional horse market on Monday, the riding tournament (Friday to Sunday), other equestrian demonstrations and the parade (Monday) followed by awards ceremony for the most beautiful cars, the program festivities also include a fun fairground with marquees, a large market and a fireworks display on Sunday after dark. When a large wheel is mounted as part of the carnival, it is a rare opportunity for amateurs to be able to photograph the trains running on the viaduct from an unusual perspective.
