The hammer of San Eloy is a hammer-shaped brioche paste, stuffed with angel hair or marzipan and garnished with candied fruit and jelly. It usually has a surprise porcelain figurine inside. It is the typical delicacy of the festivity of San Eloy, on December 1, the day it can be found in the bakeries of Barcelona (Spain).

San Eloy is the boss of metalworkers (blacksmiths, treasurers, jewelers), so Catalan pastry chefs decided to come up with a candy that would recall the main tool of the metalworking industry, the hammer, which would be sold for celebrate the feast in homage to the saint.
