The Úrvalsdeild Karla 2014 was the hundredth edition - since its creation in 1912 - of the first division football championship in Iceland. In that season, twelve (12) teams participated, the ten best of the past, plus two coming from 1. Deild 2013. This tournament had the particularity of the descent of the Fram Reykjavík, a historical Icelandic football club, that participated in the Úrvalsdeild Karla uninterrupted since 1912; his descent was concluded at the end of the season in the eleventh place of twelve teams (with the last two teams descending).

The tournament was played by the all against all system, where each team played against the other two times, one as a local and one as a visitor.
Each team receives three points per game won, one point in case of a draw, and none if it loses.
At the end of the tournament, the team with the most points is champion and gets the chance to play the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
