Osorno Municipal Historical Museum

The Municipal Historical Museum of Osorno, is a museum located in the city of Osorno, in the Region of Los Lagos, Chile. The museum has been installed in the city since 1946 in Bilbao street with Matta

The museum has an installation of 2409 m², distributed in three floors and a subway.

History

The building housing the historic museum dates back to 1946, being rebuilt in the 1960s as a result of the damage suffered by the 1960 earthquake; through a donation made by the government of Mexico.

Later in 2013 the contiguous installation of the municipal library of Osorno would be transferred; so that 2014 will be extended to expand the museum, by merging both venues. Likewise, a remodeling process will be implemented for the facilities and the façade, which will also include exhibition halls, studios and projection spaces. Collections
