Bramsegel
The rig of a full-vessel with the name of the sails and masts
A Bramsegel is a sail that is hit on a frame of the Bramstenge.
Due to the widespread increase in sails during the development of shipbuilding and the ease of handling smaller sails, the Bramsegel, like the Marssegel, was frequently shared on merchant vessels in the late 19th century. If there is such a division, one speaks of the upper and lower brakes. As there may be several masts on ships, the name of the mast is set before the sail designation to distinguish the sails. Thus, terms such as: large underwater sails, crossborder sails, etc.
Due to the division possibilities of the Mars and Bramsegel, the Bram- or the Unterbramsegel can be attacked at the third or fourth position from below on the mast, depending on the part-type. Edit source text
