Lorenz Meyer
Lorenz Friedrich Meyer (born January 3, 1948) is a Swiss jurist and former president of the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. He is a member of the Swiss People's Party (SVP). BiographyChange source
Meyer studied law at the universities of Bern and Paris. After giving his apprentice in 1974, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Bern. In 1976, he became court secretary at the Federal Supreme Court, before he became the canton of Berne in 1981. From 1987 to 2000 Meyer Richter was at the administrative court of the canton Bern, which he also presided from 1995 to 1998. After working as an auxiliary federal judge from 1988 onwards, he was elected federal judge on 21 June 2000.
On 1 December 2008, Meyer was elected President of the Federal Court of Justice with all 223 valid votes by the United Federal Assembly as successor to Arthur Aeschlimann for the term of office 2009/2010. On 15 December 2010 he was confirmed as President for the years 2011/2012.
