Juan de Hinestrosa
Juan de Hinestrosa was a Spanish sculptor of the 18th century. Around 1730 he is known to reside in the city of Seville, where he had been a pupil of the painter Lucas Valdés. He specialized in making figures of animals in wood, clay or paste, which later colored with the technique of temper. It is known that he raised in his house different types of animals, including rabbits, partridges, pigeons and lambs, to serve as models in his representations. He died in Seville in the year 1765, his three daughters continued with the artistic activity of the father, although they did not reach their degree of perfection in the representations. Some of his works were destined to the Church of San Luis of the French (Seville).
