Cuiuni River

The Cuiuni River is an Amazonian river, one of the tributaries of the Negro River, which runs entirely through the state of Amazonas. Its length is 400 km. Geography

The Cuiuni River originates in the central part of the state of Amazonas, in a sparsely populated area between the Amazon River in the south and the Rio Negro in the north. The river has its source less than 20 km from the river Yapurá, very close to the town of Jacitara. It runs in a northeasterly direction without any significant settlement, even in the mouth. The final course of the river is very meandering.

The Cuiuni River flows to the right on the Negro River, between the mouths of the Urabaxi River and the Caurés River, almost opposite the mouth of the Araça River. the mouth is in the stretch between the localities of Santana (upstream) and Barcelos (downstream), the navigation limit of the Rio Negro for large boats.
