Calle Arlegui
Arlegui Street is a street that crosses the city center of Viña del Mar in the Region of Valparaíso, Chile. Its extension begins at its intersection with La Marina Avenue to the east and ends at von Schroeders Street, on the side of Castillo Hill, to the west. It takes its name in honor to Juan de God Arlegui, lawyer and Chilean politician.
It was conceived by José Francisco Vergara at the foundational level of the city in 1874, however, in the early years of the urban life of Viña del Mar the layout of the street was occupied by the bed of the estuary Marga Marga, who went to the Calle del Comercio. In 1887 the Intendance of Valparaiso granted the permission to widen the nascent city towards the north, definitively arising the street Arlegui.
