Aschkenas - magazine for the history and culture of the Jews is a scientific journal, which covers topics of the history and culture of Ashkenazic Judaism, i. of the Jews from Western and Central Europe. The time frame covers the period from late antiquity to emancipation in the 19th century. In the magazine, scientific essays and reviews of current literature appear in German and English.

Aschkenas was founded in 1991 and has been published twice a year in Max Niemeyer Verlag (until 2002 in the Böhlau Verlag). The annual volume is about 600 pages. The editors are Hans Otto Horch, Robert Jütte, Miriam Rürup and Markus J. Wenninger in conjunction with the Salomon Ludwig Steinheim Institute. There is a print and an online edition.
