Greece

Known as Asian Greece to the west coast of Anatolia, Turkey, in ancient times.

From North to South, it divides into Eolida, Ionia and Dordida, according to the dialects spoken in them. The north of Eolia is the Troas, the region of Troy, with Mount Ida. They are Aeolian islands of Lesbos (capital, Mytilene) and Ténedos.

The central coast or Ionia harbored true Greek powers like Focea, Ephesus and Miletus. There are Clazomenas, Teos, Magnesia of the Sipilos and Colophon. Between Ephesus and Miletus flows the River Meander. They are the great islands of Chios, Samos and Icaria. The Dorians occupied the south coast, with Halicarnassus and Cnidus, and its adjacent islands, among which the great Rhodes stands out.
