Philip of Anjou (Prince of Achaia)

Philip of Anjou (about 1256 - 1277) was Prince of Achaia. He was the son of Charles of Anjou and Beatrice of Provence, married in 1271 with Isabella, daughter of William II of Villehardouin, prince of Acaya: a marriage that erased the aspirations of Carlos in its political plan, sealing its agreement with Prince William and his territorial plan, because Achaia was granted in feudo to an Angevin. In 1273 he obtained from his brother-in-law Philip of Courtenay the title of King of Thessalonica. He died in the winter of 1277, leaving his father the title of prince of Achaia. Bibliography
