Microrreserva el Tajar
The place of the Tajar is a micro-reserve of flora located within the natural park of the Sierra de Espadán, in the province of Castellón, specifically in the municipality of Torralba del Pinar.
It is an important communal forest that covers an area of 8'60 ha, from which coal was extracted for sale to the municipalities of La Plana and Segorbe.
VegetationThe flora and fauna of the area are those of the Sierra de Espadán, where it is located. Although the most representative priority species are holly (Ilex aquifolium), European or common yew (Taxus baccata), black pick (Cytisus villosus), and small flowers of the genus Minuartia valentina.
The Pinares de Rodeno and Jaral-heather, along with Valencian cork oaks and canchales communities are also typical. Level of protection
It was declared micro-reserve of flora by agreement of the Generalidad Valenciana on December 2, 1998, corresponding to the management of these micro-reserves to the Territorial Service of the Consellería de Medio Ambiente in Castellón.
