Gerhard Melinz

Gerhard Melinz (* 1955 in Frohnleiten, Styria) is an Austrian social and economic historian and political scientist.

Melinz studied social history and political science at the University of Vienna. He was promoted in social and economic history and was also habilitated in these subjects. After positions at the University of Linz as well as at the University of Vienna he is currently a university lecturer at the FH Campus Wien at the Department of Social Affairs, among others in the European master program SOWOSEC. He is one of Austria's most renowned researchers on the history and present of social work.
