Church of Our Lady of Victory (Luanda)

The Church of Our Lady of Victory is located near the banks of the river Cuanza in Massanganu, province of Kwanza-Norte, in the African country of Angola.

This church was the first building outside of the then, town of S. Paulo (Luanda). Its construction lasted approximately 7 years, probably between 1583 and 1590. Massanganu was used as a center of commerce and of the military operations in the interior of the Country. It was also used as a religious center after having been elevated to the seat of the ecclesiastical government between 1641 and 1648 during the Dutch occupation of Luanda.
