ASIC (programming language)
ASIC is a BASIC dialect for MS-DOS. It was written in 1990 by Dave Visti and distributed as shareware.
ASIC controls only a small part of the BASIC programming language. Above all, the parser is very rudimentary, that is, no composite expressions are translated. Functions are also not supported. This is also explained by the heading "ASIC: It's almost BASIC" (German: ASIC: It is almost BASIC). ASIC creates very compact COM and EXE files; you could consider it as a sort of "assembler with variables". ASIC also has a simple integrated development environment. With the latest version, 5.00, some compatibility with GW-BASIC came in the form of a program for the translation of GW-BASIC to ASIC. In the 1990s, this BASIC dialect gained some distribution over Internet forums. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
