Aalborg-Charta


The Aalborg Charter (full title Charter of European Cities and Towns Towards Sustainability) was held on 27 May 1994 at the European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns in the Danish Community City of Aalborg and since then has been signed by some 2,500 local and regional administrations in 39 countries. It contains a self-commitment of the signatory local authorities to a sustainable, sustainable policy and is the starting point of the European Campaign for Sustainable Cities and Towns

At a follow-up meeting in Lisbon, Portugal from 6 to 8 October 1996, the program of action on the Lisbon Action Plan was put into practice. Both the Aalborg Charter and the Lisbon Action Plan are an important starting point for the wide range of Local Agenda 21 activities.
