Schloss Moret-sur-Loing
Remains of the castle
The Moret-sur-Loing castle (French Moret-sur-Loing castle) was a castle in Moret-sur-Loing, a town in the Seine-et-Marne region of Île-de-France medieval castle. The building in Rue du Donjon 15 is protected as a monument historique.
The royal castle was built between 1128 and 1150 for Ludwig VI. and Louis VII. From this fortification, after the destruction and reconstruction of the castle in the 17th century, only the former Donjon, which now serves as a dwelling-house, is preserved.
On the road side, a large rosette can be seen in the center, under which a balcony has been installed. Divided windows divide the façade. Stakes at the corners are reminiscent of the once defensive character of the Donjon.
