In Saarland, the volunteer fire brigade of a town or municipality is located in Löschbezirke (LB). Each fire district has a specific area within the municipality, as a rule, every district of the municipality, with its own fire brigade, creates an extinguishing zone. According to Section 1 (1) of the fire protection organization regulation, at least three extinguishing zones can be combined to form a fire-fighting section. The division into fire-fighting areas and fire-fighting sections is regulated by the city or municipality in a fire protection kit. Pursuant to Section 2 (2) of the Fire Protection Ordinance, each fire fighting organization must consist of at least three-seater squadron staff.
The superior of the members of an extinguishing district is the extinguishing officer, the superior of the members of an extinguishing section is the extinguishing section leader. § 9 I 2 i.V.m. Article 8 (1), second sentence, of the abovementioned regulation establishes that the deletion section leaders are elected by the active members of the fire fighting section for a period of six years. The same applies, in accordance with section 10 (1) sentence 2, also to the extinguishers. According to §§ 9f. again to the respective commander of the municipality.
There are extinguishing districts also in other federal states, for example in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, but the term "Löschbezirk" is not regulated by law. As a rule, several local volunteers are combined fire brigades or extinguishers to form an extinguishing zone, or the associated release area is referred to as an extinguishing zone. Edit HistoryQual
In the first half of the 19th century, before the emergence of volunteer fire brigades, many communities in Germany formed an extinguishing district. When a fire broke out, certain inhabitants with harnessed horses immediately had to fetch the fire in their own place or in a neighboring fire station. However, this was also requested by neighboring extinction areas for reinforcement. Weblinks Edit sourcetext Single-level Edit source text
