Gerd Greune (* 15 March 1949 in Hanover, Germany, 24 August 2012 in Hamburg, Germany) was a German peace activist and president of the Institute for International Assistance and Solidarity (IFIAS)

Originally, Gerd Greune studied to become a teacher, but soon became interested in politics. The right to a conscientious defense was the first political issue he dealt with, and in the following subjects such as the German and international peace movements or the deployment of nuclear weapons in Europe and nuclear weapons were generally added. He was a member of the German Peace-Society-Kriegswettbegner (DFG-VK). Last, from 2008 to his death, he developed an Arab media internet network for IFIAS.

His special interests were human rights, freedom of the press, anti-rearmament and conflict resolution.
