Christian Wägli

Christian Wägli (* 22 December 1934 in Muri near Bern) is a former Swiss athletics league.

Wägli was mainly active on short and medium-haul routes. Due to his lack of speed, he accelerated the pace at an early stage. In 1958 he was voted Swiss Sportsman of the Year. In 1960, he reached his career in the Olympic Games. On the occasion of the invasion of the nations at the opening ceremony, he introduced the Swiss delegation as a flag carrier. In the 800 meter run as well as in the 4 times 400 meter relay he won one Olympic diploma (places five resp. Six).
