Belagua Valley

Belagua Valley or Belagoa is a Pyrenean valley located to the north of Navarre, bordering France and Huesca. The river Belagua flows through the center of the valley surrounded by meadows in which the diverse livestock of the area. These prairies, in turn, are surrounded by large mountains that exceed 2000 meters in height like the Kartxela (1982 m), Arlas (2045 m), Añelarra (2349 m) or the largest of all the Pic d'Anie (2507 m). At the top of the valley is one of the most important karst places in Europe, called Larra.
It is accessed from the village of Isaba, on the road NA-137, which culminates in the top of the port of Belagua or also called Piedra de San Martín, where every year is celebrated the tribute party of three cows.
In winter, the valley welcomes many cross-country ski enthusiasts, making it an ideal place to practice it. There is a project to build an alpine ski resort in the valley, which has provoked criticism from different environmental groups.
