Wigbert of Hildesheim
Wigbert († 1 November 908) was the sixth bishop of Hildesheim from 880 to 908.
Wigbert was an Immedinger. According to Hans Goetting, Wigbert was a monk in Corvey. The bishop of Markward of Hildesheim fell in the battle against the Normans on 2 February 880. Probably the same year, Wigbert became bishop of Hildesheim. Bishop Wigbert was at the synod in July / August 888 to Mainz. The bishops present there spoke for Arnolf as a legitimate king. Wigbert took part in the synod of Tribur, which was connected with a court day of Arnolf, in May, The Fulda annals handed over 908 as the year of death. The Hildesheimer Domnekrolog and the Nekrolog of St. Michael in Hildesheim register November 1 as the day of their death. The Old Merseburg Death Book is the name of the 31st October.
