Transition Program
Program of action voted in the Founding Congress of the Fourth International in September of 1938, elaborated by Leon Trotsky, constitutes one of the fundamental bases of Trotskyism. The very concept of transition is opposed by the vertex to the minimum program and maximum program. Synopsis
The transitional idea of this program is, roughly, the following. The working class is not familiar with the need to embrace the Fourth International because of "the confusion and demoralization of the mature generation and the inexperience of the younger generation." It is necessary to help the masses in their daily struggles to find the bridge that links their current demands with the program of socialist revolution. This bridge must be made up of a set of transitional demands, based on the conditions and the current consciousness of broad sections of the working class, to bring them to a single final conclusion: the taking of power by the proletariat.
