Sforzinda
Representation in plant but Sforzinda.
Sforzinda is an ideal city project that was never built, designed by Antonio Averlino "Il Filarete" around 1465, named in honor of Francesco Sforza, patron of this town. It is located inside a starry wall with eight points, which arises from the combination of two squares at 45ยบ. It locates towers in the angles and doors in the incomers, and plans the interior from a central area that consists of three squares (one with the palazzo and the cathedral, the other two are markets). Sixteen radial lines emerge from this zone, which communicate with the gates and towers, and open in squares at the points where they cut the secondary circular path.
This project will lay the foundations for other starry cities characteristic of the Quattrocento, such as Palmanova.
