Brederwiede was a municipality in the Dutch province of Overijssel, which existed for only 28 years. It was formed on 1 January 1973 by the association of the four municipalities Blokzijl, Giethoorn, Vollenhove and Wanneperveen. Seat of the administration was Vollenhove. On 1 January 2001 it was merged into Steenwijk (officially renamed Steenwijkerland in 2003). At the time of dissolution Brederwiede counted 12,670 inhabitants on 116,86 km². A small part of the village (5.51 km² with 17 inhabitants) was added to Zwartewaterland. Single-level Edit source text
