Arístides González was 1.86 m tall during his competition career and was in middleweight (up to 75 kg). At the 23nd Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 1984, he won 4-1 against Otosico Havili, 4-2 from Tonga, Paulo Tuvale from Samoa 5-0, Pedro van Raamsdonk from the Netherlands 4-1, before the semi-final against the Olympic champion Shin Joon up from South Korea 1: 4 to finish third.
