WLB series 400
As the 400 series, the Wiener Lokalbahnen (WLB) designate their latest generation of rail vehicles. The 14 low-floor locomotives were produced between 2000 and 2010 by a consortium of manufacturers Bombardier, Adtranz, ELIN and Siemens for use on the local railway in Vienna-Baden. To secure the 7.5-minute cycle between Vienna Opera and Wiener Neudorf, 2000 new six-wheel drive cars had to be procured. These are characterized by a low entry height, lift lifts for wheelchair users and partial air-conditioning. Its basic concept is based on Type T vehicles, which have been in use since 1993 on the Vienna Underground line 6. The Series 400 locomotives are usually operated in double-traction with the 100 series of high-flown predecessors.
