Río Vallaroso

The river Vallaroso is a small water course that passes through La Rioja in its entire length of about 15 kilometers. Its flow is very irregular, since in the summer it suffers a marked drought in all its valley and its flow decreases until almost dry. The maximum of this river is obtained in winter and spring.

The only town on its banks is called Both Waters, nowadays depopulated. With a small, deep valley and little water, it reaches the river Linares, at the end of the Era del Peladillo (Igea). In its crystalline waters you can find small fish.

This river is born in the beech of Navalsaz, a mountain range that shares with the Cidacos basin, another Rioja river. Its main tributary is the Barranco de Muro, which surpasses it in flow and length; this last river never reduces its flow, since it is fed by the 14 pipes of the town Muro de Aguas. It does not have any swamp and its regime is totally rainy; for that reason it brings so little water, because in its valley the precipitations are scarce.
