Myria
Myria (ma) is a measure for units of measure used earlier to denote a factor of 10, that is, a tens of thousands. The corresponding prefix for the 10-fold is dimi (dm).
The name of the prefix is derived from the Greek numerator μύριοι (mýrioi), which means both ten thousand and "undetermined large number". In the German language usage, this has been preserved under the term myriads. The unit factor was decided in France in 1795, but was not adopted during the introduction of the SI system (at the 11th CGPM in 1960). Thomas Young suggested, for linguistic reasons, the alternative notation myrio, which was also found in the literature of the early 19th century. Edit the source text
