José Buenaventura Sepúlveda
José Buenaventura Sepúlveda Fernández (* Cañete, Peru, July 14, 1848 - † Salitrera Office of Germania, Tarapacá, November 6, 1879), Peruvian military. Commander of the cavalry allied during the Combat of Pampa Germania in which it lost the life. Biography Jose Buenaventura Sepúlveda Fernández was born on the hacienda of la Huaca, located in the province of Cañete, Lima, on July 14, 1848. He was the son of José Antonio Sepúlveda Aldea, Chilean captain of the Colchagua battalion of the United Army Restorer, Peru, and Teresa Fernandez Cañete lady.
At age 22 he entered the Military Academy, opting for the cavalry weapon. In 1879 he was Lieutenant Colonel in the Húsares de Junin regiment, under the command of a squadron of the same and another of Húsares de Bolivar, departed from Iquique when he learned of the capture of the port of Pisagua by the Chilean army, following the orders of General Juan Buendia was in charge to cover the allied retreat being the troops to his command surprised and defeated by the Chilean cavalry to the control of Colonel Jose Francisco Vergara in the fight fought in the vicinity of the salitrera office of Germania 6 of November of 1879, in the which was killed in combat.
The armored cavalry regiment No. 113 in the city Tacna is named after him.
