ICGV Thor
ICGV Þór (Thor) is a UT 512L patrol vessel designed by Rolls Royce for the Coast Guard of Iceland, built to replace the worn-out ICGV Óðinn. The construction of the ship was approved by the Government of Iceland on March 4, 2005. Its construction began at the Shipyards and Maestranzas of the Navy in Talcahuano, Chile, on October 16, 2007. Construction was delayed for more than a year due to the 2010 Chile earthquake, but the damage to the ship's structure was not as severe as was believed. Following the repairs, the ICGV Þór was delivered to the Coast Guard staff of Iceland on September 23, 2011 in Chile. He arrived in Reykjavik on October 27, 2011. His main duties are patrol of the exclusive economic zone, inspection of fishing and support in rescue work. The ship was named in honor of the Norse god Thor.
