Gravitas
The gravitas (like dignity and seriousness exempt from all frivolity), was one of the ancient Roman virtues that society most appreciated, along with duty, pietas, dignitas and virtus.
The term gravitas should not be confused with "gravity" understood as importance, although the two terms have a common etymology: both are derived, in fact, from the Latin word that indicates weight, heaviness. It acquires the meaning of an ethical sense, of seriousness, severity and dignity and connotes a certain substance or depth of personality. In Ancient Greece, the term arete could have a similar meaning.
