The Caroni Swamp is the largest mangrove in Trinidad and Tobago. It is located on the west coast of the island of Trinidad, south of its capital, Port of Spain and northwest of Chaguanas, where the Caroni river flows into the Gulf of Paria.
The Caroní Marsh is an important tourist attraction center for the island and comprises a habitat of extraordinary value for species such as the Ibis Scarlet (Eudocimus ruber), one of the national birds of Trinidad and Tobago. Eudocimus ruber in the Caroni Swamp.
