Anna Schnidenwind
Anna Schnidenwind, born Trutt (born 1688 in Wyhl on the Kaiserstuhl, 24 April 1751 in Endingen at the Kaiserstuhl), was one of the last women to be publicly witched in Germany.
She was burnt on the funeral pyre at the Emperor's Brewery on 24 April 1751 in Endingen (after previous throttling). The 63-year-old peasant woman was accused of the "Teufelspakt" and "Brandspiftung". It was blamed for the devastating Brand Wyhl on 7th March 1751, which had probably triggered her smoking. The fire destroyed a large part of the village. Edit source text Weblinks Edit sourcetext Wikisource: Contribution to the witch story of Germany - sources and full texts
