With the US POMCUS concept begun in the autumn of 1961, several depots were erected for the reinforcing troops in the Cold War, against the Warsaw Pact. These included the Combat Equipment Group (CEG), which in turn emerged from the US Army, Europe Augmentation Readiness Group (UARG) in 1970.
In Europe, for example, the battalions of the Combat Equipment Group, Europe (CEGE) group in Mannheim and belonged to the United States Army Europe (USAREUR)
With the POMCUS program from 1978 onwards, the US Department of Defense also started increasing the storage of extensive military equipment in NATO depots to support the Rapid Reinforcement Concepts, and tested the supply of the US units that had been carried out in annual REFORGER maneuvers. These included battle tanks, armored bicycles, pioneers, ammunition depots, and equipment for large troop assemblies with food, tents, generators, etc.
