closing force

In mechanical engineering, the closing force is the sum of all forces in presses which require the columns (struts) to pull after completion of the closing operation. The closing force is then also the force which forces the tool halves against one another. In injection molding machines, the closing force is an important parameter in the international parameterization. It specifies: 1. with the first number the maximum closing force in kN and 2. with the second number the working capacity of the injection unit. For example, an injection molding machine of international size 500-210 has a maximum closing force of 500 kN. Edit sourcetext
