Aristonothus was a Greek potter in the seventh century BC, Chr., Is often presumed from Euboia. He is the earliest, now known potter. His signature has been preserved on a crater from Caere (today in Rome, Museo Capitolini, Castellani Collection 172) depicting the glare of the Polyphemus and a sea battle. Because of the location of the crater it was assumed earlier that he had worked in Italy, but the form and appearance of the signature speak against it, the used font is ionic.
