Kap Filchner

Cape Filchner is a Cape in the Antarctic.

It is covered by ice and is located on the Davissee, about 27 km (17 miles) west-northwest (WNW) of Adams Island. This cape is located between the Kaiser Wilhelm II Land and Queen Maryland.

It was discovered in the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of Sir Douglas Mawson, who named it after Wilhelm Filchner, the leader of the Second German Antarctic expedition (1911-1912) and co-discoverer of the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf. Single-level Edit source text
