The Fourth Allied Tactical Air Force (4 ATAF) was a NATO military formation during the Cold War, whose task was to provide air support for the CENTAG (Central Army Group). It was founded in 1951 and its headquarters was located at the Trier Air Base, before it was stationed from 1957 on the Ramstein Air Base. In 1980, the headquarters of the 4 ATAFs were moved together with CENTAG to the Campbell Barracks in Heidelberg. In 1993, CENTAG and 4 ATAF started their work and were replaced by Landcent's headquarters (Allied Land Forces Central Europe). The tasks of the 4 ATAF were taken over by Allied Air Forces Central Europe.
