Álfheiður Ingadóttir

Álfheiður Ingadóttir (born May 1, 1951 in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic politician (left-wing Green Movement).

Álfheiður, who has a Bachelor in Biology from the University of Iceland and studied German Studies and Media Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin, has been a journalist since 1977, initially at the left-wing newspaper Þjóðviljinn until 1987. From 1997 to 2007, she was the editor of the Icelandic Institute for Natural History (Náttúrufræðistofnun Íslands), and from 1997 to 2006, she was also editor-in-chief of the journal Náttúrufræðingurinn, published by the Icelandic natural science company (Hið íslenska náttúrufræðifélag)

From 2007 to 2013, she was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing, first for the Reykjavík-South constituency, since 2009 for the constituency Reykjavík-Nord. From 1 October 2009 until 2 September 2010 she was a health minister. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
