PKP series Ok55

The PK55 series Ok55 included three locomotives. It was intended to be used in front of passengers.

In 1952 two locomotives of the PKP series Ok22 were equipped with the much more modern and efficient boiler of the USATC class S 160 (PKP Tr203). Both locomotives were given the designation Ok203. It was not until 1959 that they were changed to Ok55-1 and Ok55-2 and carried this number together with a locomotive Ok55-3, newly built at the Wrocław repair facility (ZNTK Wrocław). Their designer, Józef Fijałkowski, hoped that in future they will be the primary passenger locomotive for the railway. Despite many advantages, the Ok55 was not built in series. In 1970 it was signed in Ok22 and used by Danzig. The last OK22 quit 1978 the service. None of the three Ok55 remained. Edit source text Weblinks Edit sourcetext
