Chile postulated as a candidate with the state Vargas, and the Bolivarian Sports Organization (Odebo) confirmed as the Venezuelan region as the venue for the event. However, Venezuela had to fulfill a formalism: to deliver on a set date, a letter with the presidential commitment to the games, a missive that was delivered after the deadline and, as stipulated in Huanchaco, during the second edition of the games, now Chile had a deadline to deliver the letter with the presidential commitment, which did happen, so in March 2015 Iquique became the new venue for the III Bolivarian Beach Games.
