August von Asbrand studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. In 1831 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg. In 1835 he was admitted to the Baden State Service as a legal trainee and transferred to the Oberamt Rastatt in 1840 as a lawyer from Karlsruhe. In 1849 he was appointed to the office of the District of Schopfheim. In 1854 he was promoted to Oberamtmann. From 1860 until his death in 1863, he was the executive director of the district of Gernsbach.
