Edit LifeQualtext

Alfred Gerger is the younger brother of the architect Rudolf Otto Gerger. He attended the Staatsgewerbeschule in Vienna, which he completed in 1909. After some years of practice, he received the Builder Concession in 1920, and a year later he joined Josef Aicher's company, which led the two until 1933. The company was successful and ran some community buildings in Vienna. Meaning Edit source text

Alfred Gerger, together with Josef Aicher, joined the post office in Buchengasse as an architect. This building incorporated neoclassical elements in modified form into modern design. The expressionistic corner solution with the structure towered like a tower above the roof is particularly striking. Inside, the post office had a modern automatic mail sorting system.
