Living with her instructor Tenzin on the Temple of the Air Temple, Korra is frustrated by her inability to do air-control. Her attention was fixed to the most famous pro-control arena of City Republic, where she visited against Tenzin's wishes. There she befriends Bolin, who falls in love with Korra at first sight. Bolin, along with his older brother Mako and one other friend, Hasuk, compete in professional pro-control matches on the team "Fire Ferrets." Due to Hasuk's abandonment, Korra joins the team and competes secretly in a match. Due to her inexperience she initially suffered, it was difficult to fight, however, through the use of air-control movements that Tenzin had taught her, "Fire Ferrets" triumph. Her victory impresses Tenzin, who allows her stay on the computer.
