The Proverbs of Alfred are a collection of sayings in Middle English attributed to King Alfred the Great. In reality, they probably do not have any connection with it: they survive only in four manuscripts of the XIII century and their writing is probably in the second half of the previous century. They are written in alliterative verses but do not follow the strict rules of Anglo-Saxon versification. Bibliography change the code
